Export your Limitless Pendant recordings while the web and desktop apps remain available. Limitless promises support throughout 2026, but it has not announced a shutdown date. Saving a copy now avoids relying on a future notice to protect recordings you want to keep.
What Limitless has promised
Meta bought Limitless in December 2025. Limitless stopped selling the Pendant on December 5 that year and made its Unlimited plan free for existing customers. Its message to them said support would continue "for at least another year", and its FAQ says "throughout 2026".
The same FAQ says the web and desktop apps can no longer record. Earlier recordings remain accessible throughout 2026. That is a reason to make a backup now, even though December 31 is not a confirmed deletion or shutdown deadline.
What happened in regions that lost access
On December 5, 2025, the service ended in Brazil, China, the European Union, Israel, South Korea, Turkey and the UK. Customers there had until December 19 to download their data. After that, their accounts and everything in them were set for permanent deletion.
That regional notice does not establish a deadline for US customers. The company also says customer data will remain safe whether or not they continue using the Pendant. Keep those statements separate from the practical benefit of holding your own copy.
Export everything
- Open the Limitless web or desktop app on a computer and go to the Data Exports tab on the left.
- Check Include audio files.
- Select Request Export. You can leave the page while it runs.
- Wait for the email. Limitless says a long history can take 30 to 90 minutes.
- When the export shows Completed, click Download.
Include the audio if you want to keep the original speech as well as searchable transcripts. A transcript can contain errors, so the audio gives you something to check it against.
If a large export fails, try smaller ones covering a month or two at a time. Open the file before you rely on it. It holds your transcripts and chats, along with other people's conversations, so we'd keep it on an encrypted drive and out of shared folders.
Open the downloaded files and check that the dates and recordings you need are present before considering account deletion. Exporting and deleting are separate actions. A backup you have not checked may leave you without a usable copy.
Keep wearing it for now
Unlimited is free for continuing customers, so you can keep wearing the Pendant and let a replacement wait until Limitless names a date. Run a second export in mid-December to pick up everything since the first one.
If you need a replacement
The Plaud NotePin S is one wearable alternative covered here, and uses its own separate service. Plaud lists a free Starter allowance of 300 transcription minutes a month. Its Pro plan includes 1,200 minutes, and Unlimited allows up to 24 hours of transcription a day.
Compare those allowances with how much audio you actually want transcribed before buying another recorder. A few meetings a month and a full day of recordings create very different subscription needs.
Put the mid-December export on your calendar before you close this page.
