How we review
The same method for every review, and a plain account of what a score here can and cannot tell you.
What a review here is
A review on this site is a research-based assessment. It is built from the manufacturer's documentation, the manual, the app's own help pages, release notes, regulator filings, and independent measurements or long-term reports from named sources. Nobody on the team has tested the device unless the review says so and gives the dates. The sources are listed at the end of every review so you can check them.
How the score is built
Each review is divided into sections that match how the device is actually lived with, such as design and comfort, what it measures or does, the app and any subscription, phone and country compatibility, battery and charging, and durability and support. Every section gets a score from 1.0 to 10.0, one decimal, with a written reason that names the fact behind it. Sections carry weights, and the overall score is the weighted average of the scored sections.
Scores run from 1.0 to 10.0: 9+ exceptional, 8–8.9 excellent, 7–7.9 good, 6–6.9 fair, 5–5.9 mediocre, below 5 poor. The overall score is the weighted average of the rated sections. Unrated sections do not count.
An editor may set a different overall score only with a published reason, shown next to the score. That is rare, and it exists for cases where one failing outweighs an otherwise good average, such as a feature that needs a subscription the maker has discontinued.
What a score cannot tell you
We run no laboratory. Accuracy figures from a manufacturer are reported as the manufacturer's claims, and they never justify a section score on their own. A new device has no long-term record, so durability and software support are judged from the warranty, the maker's track record and what owners report. Every review lists its limitations, including what could not be confirmed.
Prices
The price table in a review comes from retailer listings and is refreshed daily. A price is shown only while it is recent. After that the row becomes a link to check the current price. Prices never appear in the review text, and a price is never a reason for a score. Price links are affiliate links.
Updates and corrections
A review is updated when the device, its app or its subscription changes in a way that would change the advice, and the page shows the date. If you find an error, tell us and we will check it.
