Editorial guidelines

A site that tells people what to buy has nothing but its reliability. These rules cover how we choose what to write about, what we accept as a source, and how we stay independent. They apply to everything we publish.

What we write about

Articles cover developments that matter to someone who owns or is about to buy one of these devices: a launch or a confirmed release date, a firmware or app update that changes what the device can do, a change to a membership plan, a feature arriving in or being withheld from a country, a recall or a regulator decision, a security or privacy finding, and credible independent testing. Practical guides answer one question an owner actually has. We do not publish rumours or leaks unless the manufacturer or a regulator filing confirms them.

Sources

Primary sources come first: the manufacturer's own pages, manuals, help centre, release notes and plan pages, and regulator or standards documents. Independent reporting and testing are used when the source is named and the claim can be traced. When reliable sources disagree, the article explains the disagreement. When something cannot be established, it says so plainly.

Research-based, and honest about it

Our articles and reviews are written from documentation and cited sources, not from using the device. We never write that we noticed something in use about a product nobody here has used. If a review is ever based on hands-on testing, it will say so and give the dates.

Independence

No advertiser, manufacturer, retailer or affiliate partner can pay to change a verdict, a score or what we choose to cover. We do not accept payment for coverage. Commercial content, if there is ever any, will be labelled as such and kept apart from editorial work.

Affiliate links and prices

Price links in reviews are affiliate links. If you buy through one we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Prices change constantly: we refresh them daily and show a figure only while it is recent, and the price on the retailer's site at checkout is always the authoritative one.

Corrections

We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we fix it promptly and, for anything material, note the change on the page. If you spot an error, please tell us.
